Private Lives

Noël Coward’s Private Lives is a sparkling comedy about Elyot and Amanda, a divorced couple who unexpectedly find themselves honeymooning alongside their new spouses at the same hotel. The 2013 Gielgud Theatre production starred Anna Chancellor as Amanda and Toby Stephens as Elyot, delivering sharp, witty performances full of charm and chemistry.

Set mainly in a luxurious hotel suite, the play explores themes of love, jealousy, and the complexities of relationships through Coward’s famously quick, elegant dialogue. Chancellor and Stephens’s dynamic brought the timeless humor and emotional undercurrents of this classic comedy vividly to life.
