The Ferryman

Sam Mendes directs a stunning tale of passion and violence in Ireland during the Troubles

In rural Northern Ireland in 1981, at the height of the Troubles, as IRA hunger strikes dominate the news, the Carney family are anticipating harvest day.

A day of hard work on the land followed by the traditional feasting and celebrations lie ahead. But the festivities are interrupted by an unwelcome visitor, as the Troubles find their way into the heart of the family.

Starring Paddy Considine as patriarch Quinn Carney, a man with a past, this Jez Butterworth (Jerusalem) play has already broken box-office records and transferred to the West End in June.
